Oil on Canvas, 4” x 12” x 1.5”, 2025
Through the Pass is an atmospheric study of depth, light, and movement inspired by the shifting landscapes of the Colorado mountains. Using an impressionistic approach, the painting explores how land unfolds through layers of color and texture—where rolling hills, distant peaks, and open sky merge into a continuous visual rhythm.
Soft transitions of green, blue, and gold suggest changing elevation and light conditions, while expressive brushwork captures the sensation of moving through space rather than observing it from a fixed point. The composition emphasizes atmosphere over detail, allowing the landscape to emerge through tone, motion, and color rather than defined form.
This work reflects an ongoing exploration of landscape as experience—how memory, movement, and perception shape our understanding of place. Through the Pass invites the viewer to pause within a moment of transition, where terrain and atmosphere quietly unfold together.
This piece was created for the 3 Square Art - 100 Square Inches of Art 25 show and was accepted and showcased on the Featured Gallery wall during the 2025 exhibit.
