This painting marks my first exploration of winter landscape, inspired by the immense and austere terrain of Denali. The sweeping expanse of snow and ice captures the quiet power of the mountain as it rises through layered ridgelines and frozen valleys. Subtle shifts of blue, white, and shadow trace the movement of wind across the surface, revealing the sculptural forms carved by time and weather.
Rather than focusing on detail, this work studies light, temperature, and scale—the way cold air softens edges and transforms the land into a vast, luminous field. The composition reflects both reverence and restraint, emphasizing the solitude and elemental force of the landscape. Denali represents a moment of learning and discovery, where observation meets restraint, and the immensity of the natural world becomes both subject and teacher.
